2025 Southampton Major Recap

The first tournament of the 2025 calendar is done! There were some fantastic performances in both the Open Advanced and Open Recreational categories and it was great to see such a good turn out for the first event of the year. Even on those boggy Wide Lane pitches! Thanks to everyone who showed up and played their best Roundnet, it's great to see new names popping up in the brackets on Fwango.

We spoke to Southampton Roundnet's Open Recreational runner-up Ciaran Winstanley to offer some thoughts about the first event of the year. "The level of competition across both categories was great and led to two really competitive finals. It was nice to see so many people come to Southampton to enjoy playing Roundnet and hopefully getting to play some enjoyable matches in their categories. It was a really fun tournament to be a part of and was cool to see people encouraging each other and giving each other advice throughout. A really well organised tournament and a perfect warm up for a lot of the University teams heading towards March's University nationals."

Congratulations to all our podium finishers across both the Advanced and Recreational categories. Thanks to everyone who turned up and for being so friendly and positive, you're all a testament to the brilliant sporting community that we're building and you should be proud of yourselves. We are looking forward to seeing what you all have to offer across the rest of what is shaping up to be a very exciting Roundnet season.
